David is the son of Wendy and Gary Arnold. He started swimming at Gulf Park when he was 9 years old. When asked about his favorite memory as a Blue Shark, David said that it was too hard to pick just one. He loved summer swim meets with his friends, and just the overall experience of being part of the Gulf Park community. He was quick to mention the year this group of seniors helped at the egg hunt which included an appearance from the very tall Easter Bunny (Harper Houk). David recently graduated from Knoxville Catholic High School where he was part of the swim team and played a year of water polo for L&N Stem Academy. He will be attending Grand Canyon University in Phoenix Arizona in the fall where he plans to study Finance. Thank you to everyone who makes Gulf Park such a fun place to be each summer!

This is Luke’s 12th swim summer at Gulf Park. Our favorite Gulf Park memory for Luke is when he was a 7/8 swimmer and the relay he was on with Harper Houk, Joey Leo and Chris Joiner was affectionately called the Divas. These boys were so humble and went undefeated for 3 years. Luke is heading to Berry College in Rome GA next month to fulfill his lifelong dream of playing college football and to study Exercise Science. Our favorite part of Gulf Park as you get older is understanding you will get beat by year round swimmers, however what can't be beat are the relationships and lifetime friendships you make. There is no place like Gulf Park. The families here make all the difference, which is why Luke came back for his final season. We will miss Gulf Park and will cherish the memories and friendships!
Harper is the son of Kristi and Steve Houk. His favorite memories of being a Gulf Park Blue Shark are the mixed relays throughout the years at city meet. Dressing up for senior night, meeting lifelong friend and the time warp at the end of every home meet. Harper was pushed right into being a Gulf Park Blue Shark at just 5 years old, because, as part of a big family, his parents knew it was much cheaper for him to be on swim team with his older sisters than to take beginner lessons! He swam his first 25 free in Lane 1 by holding Coach Danny's hand as Coach crawled along the concrete and Harper flapped a one-armed freestyle! He may have been pushed to start that process, but what happened since then is all due to his personal drive, dedication, talent, hard work, and love of swimming. Harper swam with great success as a Gulf Park Blue Shark in summer league since that beginning summer, resisting the urging of many others who tried to persuade him to swim year-round competitively... until age 11. That was the age at which he announced on the way home from GKAISA City Meet that he was "retiring" from his rec league football career and wanted to swim year-round. (This even though his parents had already paid for football season!) He began competitively swimming right then for ACAC and does so still today and swam for HVA middle and high. He acquired the name "Harpeedo" along the way which is still used by his parents, siblings, and loyal fans. He has remained a loyal GP Blue Shark every summer since, making this year his 14th summer of time warping as a Blue Shark! He holds a SMI record in free relay with his GP boys and has numerous SMI and City Meet medals and wins. Harpeedo sets and exceeds high goals for himself and this year was full of big accomplishments. He achieved the honor of qualifying for and competing in USA swim Junior Nationals in December. In February, he took the state champion title in 200 IM in an amazing and very close race! And just a couple of weeks ago, he was awarded male Swimmer of the Year in the Knoxnews Awards, and got to hear his name announced and mispronounced by none other than Michael Phelps via webcast
Stephanie is the daughter of Osmary and Manny Rodiguez. She has been a member of the Gulf Park Blue Sharks swim team for the past two summers. Stephanie graduated from Hardin Valley Academy and was a member of the Hardin Valley Swim team. We will always love Gulf Park!! #Sharkforlife!!!
