MEET DIRECTOR’S MEETING

CERTIFIED OFFICIALS CLINICS

We will resume in-person clinics for Certified Officials this year. If your team is willing and can host a clinic, please reach out to Tom Schumann at [email protected] to get on the schedule.

Currently, we have the following Certified Officials Clinics Scheduled:

May 18: Village Green

May 25: Jefferson City

June 3: Maryville/Alcoa

June 4: Rockwood

June 8: Knoxville Racquet Club

MANDATORY COACHES’ MEETING

Our Mandatory Coaches’ Meeting will be held on Thursday, May 13 at 6:00 pm via Zoom. All Head Coaches should attend this meeting. Assistant Coaches are encouraged to attend, as well. Zoom link will be sent out prior to the meeting.

COACHES’ TRAINING

Coaches Certifications are due June 1. Coaches much submit Athlete Protection, Concussion, Sudden Cardiac Death, and two signature forms required by State of Tennessee. Any coach not turning in the forms by June 1 will be fined $50.Please submit the forms via Google Docs on GKAISA website.

CERTIFICATES OF INSURANCE

Certificates of Insurance are due June 15. Please submit via Google Docs on GKAISA website. Information found athttps://gkaisa.swimtopia.com/meet-directors-notes. If you have questions, please contact Breckenridge Morgan at [email protected].

CITY MEET UPDATE

The GKAISA Championship Meet will be held July 29-31 at Allan Jones Aquatic Center on UT’s campus. The format will be different this year in order to comply with the COVID restrictions set by the University (which are different than the restrictions in our cities and counties). Please be sure that your swim families are aware of the following and that they understand the importance of compliance with any restrictions set by the University. Failure to adhere to the restrictions could result in our meet being shut down.

We will be limited to 300 total people in the building per session, including all swimmers, certified officials and meet workers. Teams will be limited to 2 coaches on deck (one for girls pool, one for boys pool).

Our TENTATIVE schedule is as follows:

Thursday, July 29

Morning Session: Ages 13-14 (Preliminaries)

Afternoon Session: Ages 15-Up (Preliminaries)

Friday, July 30

Morning Session: Ages 9-10 (Timed Finals)

Afternoon Session: Ages 11-12 (Timed Finals)

Saturday, July 31

Morning Session: Ages 8-Under (Timed Finals)

Afternoon Session: Finals for Ages 13-14 and 15-Up

NO SPECTATORS WILL BE ALLOWED IN THE BUILDING. All sessions will be live-streamed so that parents and friends can view the meet.

No concessions will be sold, and GKAISA will not operate a hospitality room.

Masks will be required at all times (except when swimming). Social distancing will need to be maintained both inside and outside. Teams will gather under their own tents in cohorts.

We will update information and provide additional details as they become available.

SWIMMERS SEEKING ADDITIONAL YEAR OF ELIGIBILITY

If you have a swimmer who was 18 last year and who desires an additional year to swim because of COVID, please complete the attached form and return it to Angelia Nystrom at [email protected] prior to June 1.
