DRINKS FOR HOSPITALITY
We are asking each team participating in City Meet to either bring 3 boxes of 12-count cans of soft drinks so that we have drinks for coaches and meet officials. Soft drinks will be collected between noon and 3:00 pm on Wednesday, July 28 or during the morning of July 29. Drop-off will take place at the stairs in front of the Aquatic Center. Representatives from KRC will be there to collect them.
If your team does not want to bring drinks, you can pay $25.00 so that our Hospitality workers can purchase drinks. Please pay in the Merchandise section of online registration or bring a check payable to GKAISA to the Meet Entry Meeting.
CITY MEET TENTS
This year, all tents must be reserved through GKAISA. We have contracted with All Occasions Party Rentals, who will place tents on Wednesday, July 28 and will remove them following the Finals session on Saturday, July 31. You must reserve them online with City Meet registration. Payment can be made either online in the Merchandise section of online registration or by check payable to GKASIA at the Meet Entry Meeting.
Prices are as follows:
If you are requesting a different size than your team has had in the past or if you are requesting a different location, please send a message to Harry Whiteside at email@example.com.
CITY MEET ADS
Ad sales help us defray the cost of City Meet for our teams and help us provide scholarship money to our graduating seniors. We are asking your assistance by promoting City Meet ad sales with your teams.
Hang your team or a business banner from the railing on the concession side of the Allan Jones Aquatic Center (under the scoreboard). The cost to hang a banner will be approximately $250 for all three days, depending upon your banner size. Anyone who pays to hang a banner will also receive a 1/2 page ad in the City Meet Heat Sheet.
Spaces to hang posters in the concourse of the Allan Jones Aquatic Center will be available for purchase. Costs are as follows:
12” x 18” $10.00
18” x 24” $15.00
24” x 36” $20.00
Posters should be on poster board or construction paper and submitted to Brad Salsbury and Kelley Perkins for approval by Wednesday, July 28.
Heat Sheet Ads:
Heat Sheet Ads are also available for purchase. Prices are as follows:
1/2 page $150.00
Full page $250.00
Payments for all of the above can be made either online with Meet registration or by check at the Meet Entry Meeting.
GKAISA CITY MEET T-SHIRTS
It's already time to start thinking about City Meet T-shirts. Please promote the sale of the shirts to your parents and swimmers. Proceeds from t-shirt sales go toward helping defray the costs of City Meet and to assist in funding GKAISA scholarships for senior swimmers. Cost will be $15. Sizes available will be Youth S, M and L and Adult S, M, L, XL, XXL, and XXXL. A mock-up of the shirt is attached.
Shirts must be ordered through our online Registration link (one order per team). Payment can be made either by credit card through the website or by check at the Meet Entry meeting.
All orders must be submitted online prior to the City Meet Entry Meeting on July 21.
TEAM LOGOS AND SENIOR SWIMMER RECOGNITION
We will be able to post team logos on the video boards during our Senior Swimmer recognition. If your team has seniors who will be recognized, please upload a list of your seniors into the Google doc previously sent, along with your logo in .jpg format. Questions: Contact Marshall Goldman at firstname.lastname@example.org. Logos must be received by July 21 in order to be posted.
NATIONAL ANTHEM AND TOP QUALIFIER MUSIC
If anyone on your team is interested in auditioning to perform the National Anthem, please have him or her contact Harry Whiteside at email@example.com or at 865.936.5454. Auditions may be carried out in person, over the phone or by video audition (preferable) sent to the email listed. For more information, see the City Meet tab on the GKAISA website.
Also, we will again be asking each top qualifier from the 15-18 age group to choose “walk out” music for Finals on Saturday. This music will be played over the indoor speaker system after the Consolation heat has been swum and before the finalists are introduced. Please note: This music must be appropriate for all age groups. Any style of music is allowed, but absolutely no lyrics containing sexual content, profanity, or references to violence will be allowed. All music will be screened for content.
If you have a swimmer or relay that is top-qualifier, please email the title of the song and name of the artist to Harry Whiteside at firstname.lastname@example.org no later than 5:00 pm on Friday, July 30. Please put “GKAISA Heat Winner Music” in the subject and include your name, your team, your event, and your event number in the email. Also include any cueing instructions (i.e., “start at 1:32”). Approximately 30-45 seconds will be played.
Tom Schumann and Bill Lauer Service Awards and James Rich Courage Award
2021 GKAISA Scholarship Information will soon be available on the GKAISA website. For the Tom Schumann and Bill Lauer awards, only one girl and one boy from a team may be nominated. The nomination must be signed by the head coach.
The James Rich Courage Award is given to a swimmer in the 15-18 age group who has either demonstrated great courage in the face of adversity or who has shown leadership in a difficult situation. The nomination must be made by the head coach.
The applications are due via email submission by noon on Wednesday, July 22, 2021 to GKAISA president Angelia Nystrom at email@example.com. Please include a photo (head shot) of the nominee. Scholarships will be awarded at the Senior Splash on Saturday, July 24 at KRC.
Photos of all winners will be displayed on the scoreboard at City Meet, and winners will be recognized in the Heat Sheets.
ATHLETE PROTECTION AND OTHER POLICIES IN PLACE AT AJIAC
The Minor Athlete Abuse Prevention Program (MAAPP) is in effect at City Meet. UT’s Allan Jones Aquatic Center will need to enforce this policy. At all times during City Meet, the UT team locker rooms will be used for athletes, coaches, workers and officials ages 18-up. The visiting locker rooms will be used for athletes under 18 years of age. There will be signs posted during the meet to direct people, but we thought it would be helpful to advise you of this change prior to the event.
Also, the diving well at Allan Jones Aquatic Center will be closed on Thursday and Saturday of City Meet. We have been requested to advise teams that absolutely no one will be allowed in the diving well on these dates.

… AND FINALLY….
Thank you for your patience over the last two years as we have been forced to modify our competitions during the pandemic. We are excited to be able to have our GKAISA Championship Meet without restriction and hope that this is one giant step toward being on the “other side” of this pandemic. The entire GKAISA Board thanks you for your willingness to step forward and make the best of an ever-changing situation to provide a fun and inviting experience for our young swimmers.
