GKAISA News and Notes: Let's Get Ready for a Championship!
Coaches and Team Reps,
We are excited to see you at the 2023 GKAISA Championship Meet tomorrow! As always, we look forward to lots of fast swimming, personal best times, team spirit, and sportsmanship among our athletes, coaches and spectators.

CODE OF CONDUCT
The SEC is requiring all collegiate athletics facilities to enforce its Code of Conduct, effective July 1 of this year. The Athletic Department has asked that we publish the Code of Conduct to the teams participating in this weekend’s Meet, and further, that we have each team’s Head Coach sign the Code of Conduct and be sure that its contents are shared with their teams.
The SEC’s Code of Conduct is attached hereto. We will have them available at Coach Check-in for signature tomorrow.
TENTS AND TENT PROTOCOL
Tents have been placed and are labeled by team on the Tent Map, which was emailed out earlier today and which is available on the GKAISA website under the City Meet tab. Please refer to the Tent Map on the website to verify your team’s location. Please remind your parents to bring chairs, blankets, snacks, games, etc. for swimmers in the tents.
Also, please remind your parents and swimmers that there are to be NO POP-UP TENTS. Also, remind your teams that chairs, coolers, etc. may not be placed on the sidewalks. We must KEEP THE SIDEWALKS CLEAR for foot traffic and emergency vehicles.
Please do not permit your swimmers to use paints or chalk on the sidewalks. Please keep your areas clean and free of debris. We are guests of the facility and need to be good stewards of its use.
CLERK OF COURSE
Please have your swimmers’ names written on their shoulder and have their events written on their arms or some other visible location to assist the Clerk of Course in seating the swimmers. “Little Kid Day” is always chaotic, and your help with this will allow the Clerk of Course to run more smoothly (and may even help us eliminate some volunteer shifts next year).
Events will be called three times, and swimmers should be in the Clerk of Course tent by the 3rd call. Once a swimmer has reported to Clerk of Course, they should remain there unless excused by the Head Clerk. Failure to report to Clerk of Course on time will constitute a scratch from the event. If a swimmer misses a heat, then he or she will not be allowed to swim in another heat, absent permission from the Meet Referee.
Parents should NOT be in the Clerk of Course unless they are designated to work.
EVENT RESULTS
Event Results will be posted on deck and in the concourse. Results for Thursday and Friday will not be available on Meet Mobile until the end of the sessions on Thursday and Friday.
If you have a Protest, please complete a Protest Form at the Clerk of Course. The Meet Director will be notified, and the Meet Referee will review and render the final decision.
MEET WORKERS
All Meet Workers should attend the Meet Worker Meeting at 2:20 tomorrow. First shift workers should report to the worker check-in table before the worker meeting and should be at their stations prior to the start of the Meet. Second shift workers should report to their stations by 5:00 pm.
Shifts cannot be split or shared. When a worker shift ends, the worker should exit the pool deck or other area and return to the stands or to the team tent.
COACH CHECK-IN
Coach check-in will occur in the upper concourse (diving well end) at noon. The coaches packet will contain your team’s deck-access lanyards, heat sheets for your coaches to share, your relay cards, and an updated information packet for you.
Wristbands must be worn all weekend and cannot be removed. Also, all coaches on deck should have a wristband AND a lanyard. If a coach is on deck without both a wristband and lanyard, the coach will be removed from the meet.
PARKING PASSES
Teams that have not picked up parking passes may pick them up at the ticket booth.
We have a very limited number of passes available for purchase each day, first-come first-served. Cost per pass is $20.
Free parking is available at the Metron Center across Kingston Pike (approximately 1 mile away). Shuttle service will NOT be provided.
HEAT SHEETS
Heat sheets will be sold at the ticket booth each day. Cost per Heat Sheet is $10. Cash and credit card are accepted.
T-SHIRTS
City Meet t-shirts are boxed by team and available for pick-up at noon tomorrow. Please have your team representative (1) sign for your shirts at the Heat Sheet Sales Booth and (2) check your order against the pack list that is in the box to be sure that your shirts are correct for each day. If there is a packing error, please see someone in the Heat Sheet Sales Booth IMMEDIATELY.
Any shirts not used for packing errors by 3:00 tomorrow will be available for purchase for $25 each.

COLLECTION OF GENTLY USED SWIMMING EQUIPMENT
Village Green senior Claire Wingard will once again be collecting gently used swim equipment (caps, goggles, kickboards, etc.) and swimsuits in all sizes for Emerald Youth’s JustLead Learn-to-Swim and Community Swim Programs. A collection bin will be placed in front of the booth at Allan Jones (where Heat Sheets are sold). These programs at Emerald Youth serve Knoxville’s urban youth with reliable and safe learn-to-swim and community swim programs.
Please remind your families who may want to contribute.
